beef-quality-assurance-certificationThe Okeechobee Campus of Faith Farm Ministries, a long-time producer of quality beef cattle in Okeechobee, Fl, recently achieved the Beef Quality Assurance Certification, provided through a promotional offer from Boehringer Ingelheim and the national Beef Check Off Program. All full-time employees and program graduates involved in the daily cattle operation at Faith Farm passed multiple BQA Certification tests, making this the first drug & alcohol rehab center in the nation to achieve this certification.

The Beef Quality Assurance is a national program that provides guidelines for beef cattle production. The program raises consumer confidence through offering proper management techniques and a commitment to safety and quality within every segment of the beef industry. “The BQA program is a great training program to ensure the security of US beef and we jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it,” said Allen Patterson, Assistant Director of Okeechobee Faith Farm. “Having BQA certified employees and students verifies that all cattle we produce and send to market are handled under consistent guidelines with sound and safe practices. Through a partnership with the folks at BQA, Faith Farm will be incorporating this certification process into our Comprehensive Work Training, in which our program students are involved.”

Faith Farm Ministries is a free, minimum 9 month, faith-based, addiction recovery program with residential services for more than 445 men and women who have lost control of their lives due to alcohol and/or illegal and pharmaceutical drug addictions. We prepare the student for a competitive job market through Comprehensive Work Therapy training that teaches resume worthy vocational skills, work ethics, team work and conflict resolution. They are assisted with resumes, job searches, trade school scholarships, applications and interviewing skills. The Okeechobee campus of Faith Farm is located on over 1500 acres, and includes a working beef cattle ranch, as well as a citrus operation, a dairy calf operation, a salvage recycling program, and a local thrift store. Although we are geographically located in south Florida, students have come to Faith Farm from all over the country and beyond. Since 2008, we have had students from 41 of the 50 United States.

Faith Farm Thrift Grows By 6,780 Square Feet

December 9, 2013 Press Releases 1 Comment

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – December 4, 2013 – The Fort Lauderdale campus of Faith Farm Ministries recently increased their Thrift Store’s “As Is” department with the addition of a new, beautiful arched awning. The new awning was the perfect remedy for creating the “highest and best use” of the available space.

The new awning also resolves several operational challenges. It provides additional sales floor area for the abundant donations of gently used furniture and household goods. The additional sales area will generate more revenue to help fund the long term, residential, addiction recovery program for over 130 men at the Fort Lauderdale campus. In addition, the bright sun and sometimes rainy weather has been an issue in the past with donations being exposed and damaged. Faith Farm values the generosity of those who donate items and with the new awning, there is ample room to protect the donations and avoid the loss. Finally, the awning will provide the familiar Florida, open-air ambiance for our patrons who frequently visit the Thrift Store. There is always something new and something special at Faith Farm’s Fort Lauderdale campus, located at 1980 NW 9th Avenue (Powerline Road) between Sunrise Blvd. and Oakland Park Blvd. Thrift Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 6 PM.
